Infosphère: The toolbox for information literacy skills
Infosphère will ease life for EPFL students, helping them save time and produce higher-quality work. Infosphère is an effective and concise online guide for preparing demanding academic outputs. The tool offers numerous recommendations for effective information retrieval and management.
Information Literacy encompasses the ability to think critically and make well-informed judgements about all the information we encounter and use.
In order to offer students the opportunity to develop their Information Literacy skills, the EPFL Library has launched its own version of Infosphère based on the tool created by the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) libraries.
Infosphère is divided into four parts:
- Preparing your research
- Searching for information
- Analyzing information
- Writing a paper
Each part explores topics that are essential for producing high-quality academic work, including:
- Searching for diverse and reliable information from multiple sources
- Managing working time and organizing note-taking
- Assessing the reliability of information
- Using bibliographic reference management software such as Zotero
- Citing sources correctly, using different citation styles
- Avoiding plagiarism
Infosphère aims to become a key-platform for self-training in Information Literacy at EPFL and beyond.
Infosphère will also be part of the training offer given by the Library Teaching Team for the EPFL classes (Services for EPFL teachers ).
