Iliya Markov receives the best PhD thesis award

At its general assembly on December 18, 2020, the Swiss Operations Research Society awarded the prize for the best doctoral thesis of the last three years to Iliya Markov.
Every three years, the Swiss Operations Research Society offers a prize of 2000 CHF for an outstanding doctoral thesis, either theoretical or applied, in the field of operations research.
Iliya Markov defended his thesis, entitled "Rich Vehicle and Inventory Routing Problems with Stochastic Demands" in November 2017. The committee was composed of Prof. J.-F. Cordeau (HEC Montréal), Prof. G. Speranza (Uni. Brescia), Prof. D. Kuhn (EPFL), Prof. C. Fivet (EPFL), Prof. S. Varone (thesis director), and Prof. M. Bierlaire (thesis director).
After Niklaus Eggenberg in 2011, and Bilge Atasoy in 2014, Iliya is the third member of the Transportation and Mobility Laboratory to receive this award.
