Health logistics

Abstract
Today’s multiple, complex health systems are organized in networks. Often these networks are underutilized due to a lack of coordination and consistency among the partners. The optimization of care quality and cost control is carried out locally by each establishment or even by sector or service. This local focus usually results in general under-optimization, which could be improved by a systematic global approach. The concepts, methods, and tools used in industry make it possible to improve the situation in health care organizations and move from local care logistics to an approach based on health supply chain management.
