Former IC PhD student receives Best EPFL 2010 doctorate award
Former IC PhD student, Dr Ayfer Özgür Aydin, received one of the two EPFL 2010 doctorate awards this year, for her thesis entitled "Fundamental limits and optimal operation in large wireless networks", under the supervision of thesis co-directors Prof. Emre Telatar and Dr Olivier Lévêque.
Created in 1993, the EPFL doctorate award distinguishes PhD thesis work of an exceptional quality and research impact, and aims at creating particularly qualified researchers vocations.
Indeed, the thesis of Dr Özgür Aydin was selected by the Vice Presidency for Academic Affairs (VPAA), "for establishing how the capacity of self-organizing wireless networks
scale with their population, and finding new communication schemes that
approach this capacity".
After her PhD thesis, Dr Özgür Aydin joined the Algorithmic Research in Network Information laboratory of Prof. Christina Fragouli as Postdoctoral Researcher, where she still works now.
