Francesca Nicoletti and Maxime Dulon, students in Mechanical Engineering, and Zineb Agnaou, a student in Mathematics, have obtained first place in the pitch contest for the highly popular ML4Science project as part of the Machine Learning Course CS-433. This course, co-taught by Profs. Nicolas Flammarion and Martin Jaggi, seeks to provide fundamental principles and machine learning methods. In the ML4Science project, students can bring their ML skills to practice by joining forces with any lab on the EPFL campus, or other academic institutions, across any discipline and topic of their choice.

Francesca, Maxime, and Zineb have developed an ML pipeline to identify green jobs in a database of job ads. They carried out their project in the Innovation and Intellectual Property lab of Prof. Gaétan de Rassenfosse at the College of Management. This “green job” project was offered as part of the E4S-sponsored research program “Jobs and the Sustainability Transition” hosted at IIPP and co-led by young scientists Gabriele Cristelli, Fabrizio Colella, and Johannes Buggle.

Congratulations to the students ! Read a copy of their report
