Federal Gymnastics Festival: plan your trip ahead!

The Federal Gymnastics Festival is in full swing from June 12 to 22 — just as our students’ brains are in full gear. If you have exams during that time, play it safe: anticipate a longer commute to reach EPFL.
From 12 to 22 June, Lausanne will be hosting the 77th Swiss Federal Gymnastics Festival. Biggest sporting event in Switzerland, it will bring together more than 70,000 people in a spirit of sharing, whatever the age or level of practice of the participants.
Swiss folklore in the spotlight
The event is entirely open to the public. Immerse yourself in the world of the Federal Festival by discovering a host of activities, some based on unique Swiss folklore: wrestling, stone lifting, stone throwing and basket ball.
Spread over a number of venues, part of the festival will be held at the Dorigny sports centre, which will be alive with demonstrations and competitions from 13 to 15 June, and from 19 to 22 June. On some days, nearly 20,000 people are expected to visit the sports centre, which will cause a number of disruptions.
Impact on the sports centre
- During these 7 days (13-15 & 19-22 June), the sports centre will be entirely private and closed to the university community (including the outdoor changing rooms).
- The sports car park will also be closed to the public.
- The nautical centre will remain open, but access will be via the lakeside.
- The public transport network will be reinforced, but will remain heavily used during these days.
The entire sports complex will reopen on June 23.
