The School of Engineering at EPFL invites applications for a faculty position in Bio/Medical instrumentation, including intelligent bio-instrumentation, human-machine interfaces, or biomedical robotics.

The School of Engineering invites applications for a faculty position at the level of a tenure track Assistant Professor in Bio/Medical Instrumentation.

We seek top-level candidates whose research program addresses the need for novel technologies to probe, interface with, model, and assist the human body. Research areas of interest include, but are not restricted to, intelligent bio-instrumentation, (from novel concepts in devices and manufacturing to experimental approaches for their testing and validation), human-machine interfaces, (developing innovative approaches to read and modulate physiological signals), and biomedical robotics, for implementation in wearable robotics and assistive therapeutics.

The EPFL fosters interdisciplinary research and is committed to lead technological advances and translating innovation into new interventions and therapies. We anticipate the new faculty member will be able to build scientific interactions with the EPFL Centre for Neuroprosthetics, the EPFL Center for Intelligent Systems, the Imaging@EPFL initiative, the National Centre of Competence in Research in Robotics, the EPFL School of Life Sciences, and with partner hospitals along the Lemanic Arc.

The successful candidate will be offered an appointment in one of the institutes in the School of Engineering, based on expertise and teaching focus. She/he will operate in state-of-the-art labs across EPFL campuses in Lausanne, Geneva, Neuchatel, Fribourg and/or Sion. Commitment to open science and data dissemination will be positively valued.

Applications should include a cover letter with a statement of motivation, curriculum vitae, list of publications, and concise statements of research and teaching interests. Applicants should also provide the names and addresses of 3 to 5 referees. Applications must be uploaded in PDF format to the recruitment web site:

Formal evaluation of candidates will begin on 15 December 2020.
