Executive Education Classes Offered

Taking advantage of its new facilities, the temporary quarters of EPFL Middle East will be the host to three continuing education classes starting in October of 2010.

These executive education courses are destined for professionals based in the region and from both private and business sectors. The three proposed courses span subjects from information security, urban transportation systems, and renewable energies.

Fall 2010 Short course offerings
EPFL Middle East short executive courses combine internationally known experts with a multi-disciplinary approach in order to allow professionals of different sectors a state-of-the-art training in their field of competence. Courses will generally take place at the EPFL Middle East facilities in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

Information Security and Privacy
October 11-13, 2010
This course will help participants better understand today’s reality of cybercrime, cybersecurity and Internet related privacy issues. Technical, economic, legal, and policy dimensions will be covered.

Transportation Modeling
November 8-10, 2010
This short course will introduce participants to disaggregate travel demand models, designed to support decision-makers in better understanding and in forecasting the travelers' behavior. Real case studies will be analyzed.

Sustainable Energy Technologies and Systems
December 13-15 2010
After a review of the main global energy challenges during the 21st century, the course focuses on energy production and conversion technologies as well as on several end-use issues, such as buildings and transportation. System integration requirements, including storage and grid considerations, conclude the presentation.
