EPFL Chemistry institute ranked third in Europe.

The 2011 Taiwan Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities by Continent for Chemistry published at the end of November, puts the Institute of Chemical Sciences and Engineering (ISIC) at the third place in the lists of the most important chemistry academic research centers in Europe.

The Institute of Chemical Sciences and Engineering (ISIC), got its high rank despite being much smaller in size than competing chemistry departments.

The Taiwan Ranking lists universities according to bibliometric criteria with equal weight given to the quality of research in the last decade and in the more recent years. This high position is a testament to both the quantity and quality of the research conducted in ISIC in the past and a recognition of the value of present ISIC scientists.

The value of research in chemistry in Switzerland is confirmed by the second place of our sister institution, the ETHZ; Cambridge University is the best ranked.
