October's second weekend was a festive one for WSL (Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research) celebrating its 125 years and whose EPF Lausanne sub-branch was celebrating its 20 years. Friday 8 October, at the EPFL Polydome, WSL Lausanne celebrated its 20 years of representation in the French part of Switerland. This event was organized by ECOS laboratory, an EPFL-WSL joint-venture. In the morning, seven seminars on the WSL and ECOS research activities were presented in a very interesting manner by concerned researchers. After a lunch break, a bus was organized to visit the Marchairuz pasture study site.

Prof. Deveaud-Plédran, Dean of Research at EPFL and Prof. Marc Parlange, Dean of the ENAC faculty congratulate their WSL colleagues and acknowledge the importance of such inter-institutional collaborations.

Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 October, a series of expositions, presentation stalls, explanations, seminars and games of the kids presenting ECOS/WSL research activities developed within local study sites were presented and animated for a large public at the Arboretum d'Aubonne.
