Professor Corentin Fivet (Structural Xploration Lab) is joining a round table organized by the young Swiss association "Architectes pour le climat / Architekten für das Klima", this Tuesday September 6th in Fribourg. The theme of the day is "Climate emergency and construction: What practical and political means of action?". The panel also includes: Jean-François Steiert, State Councillor in charge of territorial development, infrastructures, mobility and environment; Enrico Slongo, City Architect of Fribourg; Véronique Favre, architect, FAZ architects in Geneva; Stéphane Fuchs, architect, office ATBA SA in Geneva.

Climate emergency and construction: What practical and political means of action?

It is now a given, and the last part of the 6th IPCC report published in February 2022 confirms it, that immediate action is necessary to reduce the environmental impacts of our society and to prepare to adapt to the consequences of climate change at the global level.

In this context, the actors of the round table will question the role of the architect and the construction professionals at the local level: are the measures proposed by the climate plan likely to support their action? Are they sufficient, especially in terms of land and building management? Some cantons are already proposing more restrictive measures, are these examples to be followed?
