The first EPFL Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) report features the College of Humanities (CDH) Global Issues program as a “best practice” for the goal of quality education.

Produced by Tech4Impact, a strategic project of EPFL’s Vice Presidency for Innovation, the report – entitled “EPFL’s Contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals” – was presented at the Showcase 2030 event held at the Forum Rolex Learning Center on April 10. It assembles all the EPFL research, policies and projects that support and advance the 17 goals elaborated in the United Nations (UN) 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Since the 2013-14 academic year, CDH’s Global Issues course in the Social and Human Sciences program has been compulsory for all EPFL first-year students. The course is divided into six areas focusing on major global issues: health, climate, food, energy, mobility, and communications. Courses in each area are taught by both science/engineering and social sciences educators from EPFL and the University of Lausanne, to create an interdisciplinary learning experience.
