Bruno Marchand receives the 2025 Culture du Bâti Award in the Architecture and Landscape category
EPFL Architecture – the Architecture Section and the Institute of Architecture and the City – extend their warmest congratulations to Bruno Marchand, honorary professor at EPFL and winner of the 2025 Culture du Bâti Award in the Architecture and Landscape category.
A key figure in architectural education at EPFL, Bruno Marchand was the director of the Laboratory of Theory and History of Architecture (LTH2) and of the Institute of Architecture and the City for several years. His work, particularly on collective housing in Switzerland, has contributed significantly to academic and professional debate, both through his publications and his research collaborations. As the founder of the doctoral programme «Architecture, City and History», he played a decisive role in shaping territorial and urban planning thinking in French-speaking Switzerland.
In parallel with his academic activities, Bruno Marchand joined the management of the Service de l'aménagement du territoire du Canton de Vaud (Vaud Cantonal Planning Department) and continued his architectural practice. Involved in numerous juries and commissions, he remains an essential voice for a demanding and high-quality building culture.
EPFL Architecture is delighted with this recognition, which honours his exceptional contribution to the field of architecture and territorial planning.
