Master's Project at Skymind, San Francisco, USA

Last semester I did my Master Thesis at Skymind in San Francisco. Skymind is the startup behind the open-source deep learning library called Deeplearning4J. I had the chance to work on a new feature of the library, adding the sparse data support. Since I started the project from zero, I had the opportunity to do the theoretical researched, to submit a new design and to implement it. The Skymind team was always available to help and support me while at the same time giving me the responsibility and the autonomy to carry out this project. Working on the whole workflow of the projects was very enriching, I learned a lot during each development step. Since this new feature was really expected by the open-source community, it was necessary to better understand the expectations and needs of the users in order to provide them the best possible tools.

It was my first time in the United-States and I couldn’t have dreamed of a better opportunity! It was a fabulous experience to live and work in the Silicon Valley for 6 months. I also profited each moment of free time I had to visit this beautiful country!
