Internal deadline for Support Letter: 23 April 2020
Deadline: 30 April 2020
Two calls per year.

Velux Stiftung was founded in 1980 by Villum Kann Rasmussen, a Danish engineer. He developed a novel window construction that could be installed in sloping roofs, which he named “VELUX” (“ Ve” for ventilation, and “Lux” for light).

Velux Stiftung aims to have an impact and contributes to the sustainable improvement and the benefit of society, by supporting basic and applied research in any disciplines in the fields of daylight, healthy ageing and ophthalmology. Projects outside these fields, but under medicine and biology, may be considered in exceptional cases.

Permanent employees of universities or other permanent research institutions worldwide are invited to apply. Non-permanent employees are welcome to apply as co-applicants.

Research grants amount to approximately CHF 50’000-100’000 per year for up to 4 years and can be used to cover personnel costs (excluding the applicants’ salary), consumables, equipment, conference, travel, publications and other research-related costs.

EPFL applicants are kindly invited to fill out the Institutional Support Letter template available in the EPFL Toolkit, have it signed by the Dean and, if applicable, by the Director of the Institute and the Head of Unit, and send it to [email protected] by 23 April 2020 for the institutional signature.

Submit your proposal by 30 April 2020 in a single PDF to [email protected].

Proposals will be reviewed by two international external experts and ultimately selected by the Foundation’s Board. Decisions will be communicated in November 2020. Selected projects must start within 6 months.

For further information and application, please have a look at the call webpage and at the EPFL Toolkit. Register this call in your calendar with the EPFL Memento.
