Funding for applied projects, dealing with the use of microbial resources in health and technology.

Gebert Rüf Stiftung was established by entrepreneur Heinrich Gebert as a science and innovation foundation. Its objective is to promote «Switzerland as a top location for business and as a place to live». As a private funding agency, guided by its mission statement «making science effective», it supports entrepreneurial projects, which are committed to achieving an impact.

The programme Microbials, which is endowed with CHF 2 million per year, supports with up to CHF 300’000 for up to 36 months interdisciplinary, cross-institutional, impact-oriented, innovative and applied projects, dealing with the direct use of modified or domesticated microbial resources in health and technology.

The focus is on applications in human and veterinary medicine, the environment, energy production, water treatment, food science and other areas. The programme does NOT provide merely additional (residual) financing of large initiatives.

The call is open to personnel employed at a Swiss university, federal institute of technology, research institutions affiliated with Swiss universities or at a university of applied sciences. Find at this link a list of past grantees.

Submit your proposal first to [email protected]by Friday, 14 June 2019 to obtain the Letter of Endorsement. The call closes on Friday, 21 June 2019. Proposals will be reviewed by the programmeJury. Decisions will be communicated in mid-November 2019.
