André Patrão connects Foucault and Koolhaas at the ISPA conference

André Patrão, doctoral assistant at the ACHT lab, shall be speaking at the International Society for the Philosophy of Architecture’s 4^th Biennial Conference, dedicated this year to the topic “Building as Service: people, politics, and governance”. The conference takes place on the 26^th and 27^th of July at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, USA. 

André’s research in the domain of what has come to be called “Philosophy of Architecture” has dealt with the influence of Koolhaas’ knowledge of Foucault in the design of the Koepel Panopticon Prison project. Some critical findings of this study will be presented under the title (Architecture’s) power and the (Arnhem) panopticon.
