Every year, the European Central Bank recognise the important role played by young economists in shaping the future of Europe through the Young Economist Prize. This research competition offers talented students the chance to share their fresh perspectives on today’s challenges.

The theme of the 2022 ECB Forum on Central Banking is “Challenges for monetary policy in a rapidly changing world”. Accordingly, PhD students were invited to submit papers on this theme. Their papers were assessed using three selection criteria:

- Innovative thinking and scientific merit

- Relevance for euro area policy

- Pertinence to the Forum theme

SFI PhD student, Alice Eliet-Doillet, was selected as a finalist for her paper "Can central banks help scale up green finance?"

The ECB Forum on Central Banking took place from 27 to 29 June 2022.
