A New Director for the Digital Humanities section at EPFL

The Digital Humanities Institute (DHI) announced the appointment of Prof. Daniel Gatica-Perez as the new Director of the Digital Humanities Section (SoDH) at EPFL. The section is in charge of the Master of Science in Digital Humanities program.

Prof. Gatica-Perez has been a lecturer in the DH Master program from its start in August 2017 and has been very much involved in the creation and set-up of this program from the beginning. He leads the Social Computing Group at Idiap (1) and is a faculty member of the School of Engineering (STI) and the College of Humanities (CDH) at EPFL. Prof. Gatica-Perez is taking over the position from Prof. Sabine Süsstrunk who has been the Director since 2015, date of its creation.

Prof. Süsstrunk, current director of the DHI commented: “I am extremely happy to have Daniel take over this position. Based on his experience both in Digital Humanities and in teaching, I feel he will be a great asset to the program. I wish him all the best in this new role”.
