Come and meet Claude Marthaler, this passionate cyclonaut and writer, back at EPFL on June 5th for a new conference.

As part of Bike to work, the passionate cyclonaut and Swiss writer Claude Marthaler comes back to EPFL on Tuesday 5 June at 6pm in CM1106 to talk to us about cycling, his travels and project Bike for bread, a documentary about Cairo's bread delivery people, which he co-directed with Raphaël Jochaud (trailer here). An aperitif will follow the conference.

Since 1978, he has visited nearly a hundred countries during these numerous bicycle trips. And when he's not around the world, he gives lectures and writes columns for the newspaper La Liberté, the weekly Écho Magazine, Cycle!magazine and PRO VELO info. He is the author of 9 books, two digital slide shows and co-director of the documentary Bike for bread (26’, 2003). Two television documentaries were devoted to him: "La fin du voyage" (52', 2003) and Claude Marthaler, embrasser la terre (70', 2015). His passion as a child, which has also become his livelihood, merges today, like the two wheels on his bicycle. Also he will dedicate all his books during this evening not to be missed!

Last year, Claude Marthaler came to talk to us, among other things, about his 7-year world tour. In addition, his photo exhibition "Zen or the art of pedaling" was exhibited under the BM's arcades. So, it is with pleasure that we welcome him back to campus.
