    The oscillator that could makeover the mechanical watch

    yesterday - Mediacom For the first time in 200 years the heart of the mechanical watch has been reinvented, thereby improving precision and autonomy while making the watch completely silent. EPFL researchers have developed an oscillator that turns continuously in one direction, eliminating one of the crucial mechanisms of traditional watches.

    15.09.14 - Geographic Information Systems Laboratory Devis Tuia from LaSIG, and co-authors, were awarded an honorable mention Best Paper Prize at the ISPRS mid-term Symposium "Photogrammetric Computer Vision" (PCV) held in conjuction with the European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV) in Zurich, Switzerland.

    Starting of the design studio entitled SUBURBAN LANDSCAPE

    15.09.14 - Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies By an approach at different levels of intervention - from urban design to constructive detail - Prof. Emmanuel Rey's studio aims at analyzing, exploring and experimenting the specific issues related to the contribution of the architectural project to the evolution of built environment towards sustainability, in particular in the perspective of an urban densification near public transport and an experimentation of new constructive approaches. Entitled SUBURBAN LANDSCAPE, the studio will explore during this academic year 2014-2015 the development of a new suburban neighborhood located in the West Lausanne.
