Virgile Favre joined LQM in December 2016 as a PhD student working on discovery and exploration of novel quantum materials

Virgile grew up in France and graduated in Physics from EPFL. He mainly studied theoretical solid states physics, quantum field theory and general relativity during his masters. He did his semesters project under the supervision of Prof. Fédéric Mila which dealt with ultra colds atoms trapped in optical lattices. His master thesis consisted of the study of mean field solutions to Heseinberg SU(N) Hamiltonian modeling Alkaline Earth Atoms in optical lattices.
