The IBM Research prize awarded to Reza Parhizkar

Reza Parhizkar, a former PhD student of the LCAV, the Audiovisual Communications Laboratory directed by Prof. Martin Vetterli, was awarded the IBM Research prize for his thesis entitled « Euclidean Distance Matrices: Properties, Algorithms and Applications », defended in January 2014.

The "IBM Research" prize - sponsored by IBM Research GmbH Zurich Research Laboratory - rewards a doctoral thesis or a masters project, undertaken at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. It is aimed at promoting research in computational sciences and recognises outstanding projects developing advanced modelling and simulation methods or their applications to important topics in diverse areas of science (physics, chemistry, and biology) and engineering. Reza Parhizkar is currently lecturer in the EPFL Communication Systems Section and Head of Research at MaCX ReD AG in Zug.
