The SFI@EPFL organizes the 2014 4nations cup that takes place on May 2, at EPFL. This event, co-hosted by Professors Erwan Morellec (SFI@EPFL) and Jean-Charles Rochet (University of Zürich), brings together the most promising young scholars in financial economics from four countries. Professors Ruediger Fahlenbrach (SFI@EPFL) and Per Oestberg (University of Zürich) have been selected to represent Switzerland and compete against scholars from Italy, UK and Netherlands.

Modeled after the rugby 3/4 nations cup tournaments, the 4nations is a contest organized in one day of 'mini seminars'. The 40 minutes seminars are given by candidates from the four nations that are a short flight away from one another. Each nation nominates two lead candidates.
At the end of the day, the audience votes for the candidates and the nation with most points receives the cup.
The candidates in the tournament are the most promising young (time since PhD less than 10 years) scholars in financial economics affiliated with universities domiciled in the participating nations.
The candidates are selected by a scientific committee whose members are affiliated with universities in the participating countries. Prof. Erwan Morellec (EPFL) is part of this scientific committee.
