T. Ratiu wins the 2016 Tullio Levi-Civita award

Professor Emeritus Tudor Ratiu, who recently retired from EPFL and is now working at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, is the new 2016 “Tullio Levi-Civita Prize” winner.

The International Prize “Tullio Levi-Civita” for the Mathematical and Mechanical Sciences is awarded each year by the International Research Center for Mathematics & Mechanics of Complex Systems (M&MoCS) of the Università dell’Aquila to up to two distinguished scientists in theoretical or applied mechanics or in mathematics. The winner is expected to hold a series of lectures and join the research activities of the Center during a short stay.

Prof. Tudor Ratiu, the former holder of the Chair of Geometric Analysis at EPFL, is a most renowned mathematician for his research and the breadth of his interests. He is the author of more than 200 publications, gathering upwards of 3000 total citations, and co-author of several textbooks used by students and researchers all over the world.
