The SXL kindly invites you to Sofia Colabella's talk on "timber gridshells, from construction to design".

this Friday 2 Dec., 12-1pm in AAC 108, EPFL, Lausanne.

Architect and PhD in “Technology of architecture”, Sofia is co-founder and director of “Gridshell.it”, an Italian practice specialised in the design and construction of timber gridshell structures. In 2012, she also co-founded “Villa Pennisi in Musica” (VPM), a Summer School which involves young designers and musicians in the construction of an acoustic shell for open-air concerts. Sofia has recently been Tutor and Research Assistant at the University of Melbourne, as well as Casual Lecturer at the University of Naples Federico II. During the last 15 years, she has also been working on the following research and design fields: (1) interior design, (2) timber design, (3) technology of architecture and (4) gridshell design. She is currently visiting the Structural Xploration Lab, ENAC, EPFL.
