Barely a decade after the first complete sequencing of the human genome, some private companies have already embarked on this market niche by offering to decode anyone’s DNA for a few hundred francs. Death blow to privacy or scientific progress towards disease prevention? Denis Duboule, geneticist at EPFL /UNIGE, and Jacques Neirynck, honorary professor at EPFL and National Councillor, discussed this matter during the second session of our public science lectures: "Science!
