Samuel Urfer (PH'09)

Samuel Urfer obtained his Master of Science in Physics at EPFL in 2009. His Master thesis addressed the transfer of energy in proteins, within a non-linear-chain model.
While he was studying, he completed an internship in the IT department of the BCGE (Cantonal Bank of Geneva), which stimulated his interest in project management.
Once he had obtained his diploma, he began working for the Swiss Federal Railroad (CFF) as a systems engineer responsible for developing, in tandem with industry partners, the European Train Control System (ETCS) for Switzerland. He then moved on to become project manager for safety installations, and is currently responsible for a pilot project operating between Lausanne and Villeneuve, which will use the ETCS technology.
