Pramod Rastogi has been named the 2014 recipient of the SPIE Dennis Gabor Award. The Dennis Gabor award is presented annually in recognition of outstanding accomplishments in diffractive wavefront technologies, especially those, which further the development of holography and metrology applications.

Pramod Rastogi is the 2014 winner of the Dennis Gabor award in recognition of his groundbreaking research in the development of high resolution and multi-component parametric phase formulation methods for the simultaneous estimation of multiple phases and their derivatives from holographic interference patterns.

Rastogi was named a Fellow of the Optical Society of America at a relatively young age of 41 years. He was named a Fellow of the Society of the Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers two years later, and became the first Swiss scientist to receive this distinction. He is also a Fellow of the Optical Society of India and is a recipient of the Hetényi Award for the most significant research paper published in Experimental Mechanics in the year 1982. He is also the author/co-author of over 150 scientific papers published in peer reviewed archival journals, and has been the editor of several notable books on optical metrology.

Since 1999, he is the Editor-in-Chief of the International journal of Optics and Lasers in Engineering, published by Elsevier.
