Melting ice – a sublime drama
When art and science zoom in on a spectacular natural phenomenon.
Melting ice fields are an alarming indicator of problems with the climate. That, however, in no way diminishes the breathtaking beauty of the sceneries they give rise to. For years, Robert Bolognesi, snow scientist and photographer, has been travelling to the Polar Regions, bringing back stunning photographs, some of which will be on display at the Rolex Learning Center from February 19 to March 27 as part of a photo exhibit called “ICE – A Journey to the Land of Icebergs.”
Martin Beniston is a famous climatologist, who is also intimately familiar with the Poles and has seen the ice fields melt away with his own eyes. To bring together an artistic and a scientific perspective around this topic, Robert Bolognesi and Martin Beniston will join us for a debate at the next edition of “Science! on tourne” on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at 12:15 p.m., at the Café Klee in the Rolex Learning Center.
