Lecture at the Université Libre de Bruxelles

Prof. Emmanuel Rey of the Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST) was invited to participate to the Annual Conference of the Doctoral Thematic School "Architecture, Town planning, Architectural and Urban Engineering" organized on 2nd February 2011 in Brussels by the Universities of the French Community in Belgium.
The Doctoral Thematic School "Architecture, Town planning, Architectural and Urban Engineering" (EDT) brings together research teams from the University of Liege, the Université Catholique de Louvain, the Faculté Polytechnique de Mons and the Université Libre de Bruxelles. The objectives are in particular to develop the scientific quality of research in architecture and urbanism.
Architectural research is often a meeting point between its own disciplinary core and themes from other fields like art, history, technology and sociology. Follows from this hybrid character, specific questions in terms of identity definition and methodological approaches.
To address these issues, EDT invites four researchers to present their visions and experiences. Based on such analysis from his doctoral thesis, Prof. Emmanuel Rey presents various methodological considerations, specifically focusing on the field of sustainable architecture.
