Julien Pilet (IN'03, DR'08)

Co-founder and R&D director of Aptarism, a startup active in the area of augmented reality, Julien Pilet obtained a Master’s degree in Computer Science at EPFL in 2003, which he complemented with a PhD in 2008.
For a change of scenery, he went to Japan to study at post-doctoral level at the University of Keio, in the areas of computer vision and augmented reality.
On his return to Switzerland, he spent two years with Google in Zurich where he worked on image research before coming back to Lausanne and becoming independent by setting up Aptarism, whose team members come from both EPFL and the world of video games, in particular Ubisoft. Aptarism develops interactive systems, including video games and augmented reality systems.
