Bianca and Johannes, together with Cornelius Gross from EMBL Monterotondo, provide a detailed overview of the brain circuitries underlying innate fear. These circuits can be grouped into three separate entities, a detection, an integration unit, and an output unit. Interestingly, all these units are in close collaboration with a memorisation unit, which functions at the intersection between innate and acquired fear.
