Information concerning EPFL 2014 end-of-year holiday opening hours

As every year, in order to offer the best possible services to students, researchers and teaching staff, EPFL will remain open during the end-of-year holiday period. As from Wednesday 24 December at noon until Sunday 4 January in the evening, doors will be in “week-end” mode (Camipro). All necessary measures for maximum reduction of energy consumption will be taken.
OPENING AND SERVICES
Accessibility to campus premises and surveillance: from Wednesday 24 December at noon until Sunday 4 January in the evening doors will be in “weekend” mode (Camipro). Normal activities will resume as from Monday 5 January 2015.
Heating: throughout the holiday period, the heating will be in “normal” mode.
Security: the DSPS will ensure non-stop service via 115. Security patrols will be extended and the possibility of being escorted to your car in the evening will be maintained (dial 115 in-house or 021 693 3000 from a mobile). First aid: non-stop service 24 hours a day: http://help.epfl.ch.
Student Services: the Student Services desk will have reduced opening hours during the holiday. Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 December 9am to 6pm, Wednesday 24 December 9am to noon, Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 December 10am to 3pm, Wednesday 31 December 10am to noon. Normal schedule (9am to 6pm) as from Monday 5 January: http://studying.epfl.ch/student_desk. Workspaces for exam revision during the holiday have been reserved for students – list of rooms available and access schedules on http://studying.epfl.ch/revising.
From Saturday 20 December 2014 to Sunday 4 January 2015, and particularly on Monday 22, Tuesday 23, Wednesday morning 24, as well as Monday 29, Tuesday 30 and Wednesday morning 31 December 2014, the following services will be available according to the schedules posted on their respective websites:
• DIT Call Center and essential services: open according to the normal schedule on 24 and 31 December (mornings), 22, 23, 29 and 30 December: http://it.epfl.ch ;
• OS-Operation Support will maintain basic service, details and schedules on http://sesame.epfl.ch/main-page-en ;
• the EPFL-CWT travel agency will be closed from 8am on 24 December to Sunday 4 January inclusive : http://voyages.epfl.ch/cwt ;
• the main switchboard will remain open Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 from 7.30am to 6pm, Wednesday 24 from 7.30am to noon, Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 from 9am to 4pm, Wednesday 31 from 9am to noon, the GIT (including low current repairs);
• caretaker service Wednesday 24 December in the morning, Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 December from 7.30am to noon and from 1.30 to 4.30pm, Wednesday 31 December in the morning;
• the Health Pointwill stay open until noon on 24 December. Normal schedule resumes as from Monday 5 January (from 8.30am to 11.30am and from 12.30 to 5.30pm), http://securite.epfl.ch/healthpoint.
From Saturday 20 December 2014 to Sunday 4 January 2015, cafeterias and restaurants will be open according to their respective schedules: http://restauration.epfl.ch/horaires. Les Arcades and Quartier Nord: http://quartier-nord.epfl.ch/Arcades.
All restaurants will be closed on Thursday 25 December.
The RLC reception desk will be open:
- 24 December from 8am to noon
- from 26 to 31 December and from 2 to 4 January: from 10am to 4pm
- however it will be closed on 25 December and 1 January.
The Esplanade reception desk will be closed as from Wednesday 24 December at noon. Reopening on Monday 5 January at 8am (normal schedule).
Throughout the holiday period the RLC will be open daily except Thursday 25 December.
Research units arrange their schedules independently.
Administrative units make their own arrangements, depending on work in progress.

• Cleaning and caretaker services are maintained primarily in the following areas: La Diagonale / Centre Est / Centre Midi and RLC.
• the Poséidon help desks in La Coupole and the RLC will be open until Friday 19 December end of the day. Normal schedule as from Monday 5 January 2015. The help desk in the RLC will operate a basic service from 22 to 24, on 26 and from 29 to 31 December, see http://poseidon.epfl.ch/english/home/ (cf. News items)
The Post Office will be open on Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 December from 9am to 5pm, Wednesday 24, Monday 29, Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 31 December from 9am to 12.30pm. Normal schedule resumes on Monday 5 January (9am to 5pm). The last mail distribution and collection of the year from postal stations will be on Wednesday 24 December at 11am. Normal mail distribution and collection resume on Monday 5 January.
ENERGY-SAVING MEASURES
All staff will be requested to switch off as much equipment (including computers) as possible and to lower the temperature in unused premises where the heating can be regulated. The caretakers will do their utmost to ensure that these instructions are implemented.
UNIL AND UNIVERSITY SPORTS

Service des sports UNIL/EPFL: courses end on Friday 19 December 10pm and will resume on Monday 5 January on a reduced schedule. The Dorigny sports halls and secretariat will be closed during that period, except on the weekend of 20 and 21 December when the halls will remain open from 8am to 7pm: http://sport.unil.ch.
