IDEAS Seminar | 12 November 2014

Anne-Claude COSANDEY and Thomas JUSSELME will be the speakers of the next IDEAS Seminar, entitled "Smart living lab – centre de compétence interinstitutionnel et interdisciplinaire sur l’habitat du futur". It will take place on Wednesday 12 November 2014 at 12:30 pm in IDEAS space (LE Building).

The axis Integrated Design, Architecture and Sustainability (IDEAS) is a joint initiative of both the Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Performance-Integrated Design (LIPID) and Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST) of the ENAC School at EPFL. It aims to address an increased integration of the various issues related to sustainable architecture within the framework of the Master Cycle in Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering, as well as the Doctoral program Architecture & Science of the city (EDAR).

The presentation will focus on the Smart living lab project, a platform for inter-/trans disciplinary collaboration and advanced research on buildings and homes of the future. Smart living lab is unique in that it combines a program of academic research with the design and construction of a building enabling the development of this research. The smart living lab will consolidate the EPFL-FR outpost and the EIA-FR and UniFR research groups.

Anne-Claude COSANDEY obtained her environmental engineering degree and her doctorate at EPFL. She worked within various private and public institutions and was the director of the Ecoparc association, active in awareness raising for the sustainable development of the built environment. Familiar with complex projects including academic, public and private partners, she is responsible for developing the EPFL-FR outpost in Fribourg and the Smart living lab.

Thomas JUSSELME is an eco-design engineer. He completed his education with a Master in Industrial Design at UTC Compiègne. After his training, he studied sustainable architecture by traveling around 25 countries, and subsequently founded exNdo studio, an eco-design engineering office which he directed technically during 8 years. He is currently scientific director of exNdo and responsible of the Building 2050 program.

A light lunch will be served during the presentation. For logistic aspects, please let Martine Tiercy know of your participation before Monday 10 November.
