Emanuele NABONI will be the speaker of the next IDEAS Conference, entitled "User Centred Design, from Research to Realization". It will take place on Wednesday 15 June 2016 at 12:30 pm in the IDEAS space (LE 0 10).

In this talk, Emanuele Naboni will introduce the audience to a series of his projects: neighbourhoods, buildings, and architectural devices, located in 5 different continents. The designs, approached with strategies, methods, and simulation tools drawn from multidisciplinary research, reveal the richness of sustainable design beyond the usual prescriptions of codes and certification systems. The low-tech solutions are aimed at creating vibrant and dynamic outdoor and indoor thermal-visual atmospheres , connecting users to climatic cycles, local material-construction loops, and the ecosystem at large .

Dr Emanuele Naboni is Associate Professor of Sustainable Design at The Institute of Technology of the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen, School of Architecture. He develops sustainable design solutions at different scales in collaboration with a number of international architectural practices. He is the author of publications from Sustainable Design for Detail, RIBA, and Routledge. Previously, Emanuele was a Researcher at LBNL, Visiting Researcher at UC Berkeley, and Visiting Teacher at Architectural Association and Nottingham University. He worked at the Performance Design Team of SOM for some years.

The axis Integrated Design, Architecture and Sustainability (IDEAS) is a joint initiative of both the Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Performance-Integrated Design (LIPID) and Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST) of the ENAC School at EPFL. It aims to address an increased integration of the various issues related to sustainable architecture within the framework of the Master Cycle in Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering, as well as the Doctoral program Architecture & Science of the city (EDAR).

A light lunch will be served during the presentation. For logistic aspects, participants are kindly requested to register via this link before Monday 13 June noon.
