EPFL says goodbye to abandoned bikes

Abandoned bikes are regularly signaled by students and collaborators. In order to make room for actual bike users, Sustainable Campus took the initiative to organize a large scale action to remove them. It will take place between February 13th and March 31st.

Until today, suspected abandoned bikes were sticked with a warning message. If the sticker was not removed after a few weeks, they were usually removed, refurbished and sold at the Bike Center.

All bikes are concerned

Because it is often difficult distinguish an abandoned bike from a badly-maintained one, stickers have been put on every bike parked on the campus. Each owner is expected to take it off by the end of March. The bikes that will still have a sticker on will be definitely removed, stored on campus. After a few weeks, they will be refurbished and sold at the Bike Center, with the support of the Foundation for EPFL students (FEE).

For long-term parking, the Bike Park (Vélostation) offers 350 secured and covered parking spaces. They are accessible 24/7 to all CAMIPRO card owners.
