Prof. Dominique Boullier Director of the SocialMediaLab and affiliated to the Institute of Digital Humanities at EPFL has published his new book "Sociologie du Nomerique".

The "Digital" (research, informatics, media, Internet) has increasingly and steadily enmeshed with socio cultural activities, from the most personal to collective actions, altering our interpersonal relationships and our relation with space and time.

This has generated a large number of debates.

To grasp the true meaning of the digital "revolution" and its key issues this book provides students and researchers with theoretical frames, key concepts and a critical review of the topic. After tracing the evolution of the digital, the book analyzes the economic, cognitive dimensions, organizational and socio-political impact of numbers and data.

The book also questions the role of social sciences and their responsibility to become "data social science " and enter the growing debate over the role and fulture of the digital humanities.
