Distinction for a doctoral assistant of the LAST

Entitled "Energy in the City", the ENAC 2012 Research Day enabled more than 80 PhD students to present the progress of their work, of which several supervised by Professor Emmanuel Rey from the Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST). Loïc Fumeaux, who is working on the integration of sustainability issues into the design process of event temporary structures, was distinguished on this occasion by receiving the 3rd prize awarded by the ENAC Research Commission for the best posters.

For this edition, the accent of the ENAC Research Day was put on energy issues in cities and agglomerations. The number of human beings living in urban areas nowadays has reached a level never equaled before in the history of humanity. If cities have always focused on political and economic challenges, they are now confronted with particularly complex problems in resource management.

These issues come into close resonance with the topics addressed by the PhD students affiliated to the LAST. Loïc Fumeaux presented his research on the design process of sustainable temporary structures and Maria Riera presented her ongoing work on the multiples issues of sustainable urban renewal. Besides, Emilie Nault, co-supervised by Prof. Marilyne Andersen of the LIPID, presented a poster entitled "Potential energy and interactive design in urban areas".
