Professor Anthony Davison is the recipient of the 2015 Guy Medal in Silver for his work in statistics.

The Guy Medals are awarded by the Royal Statistical Society. They exist in three categories: Gold, which is awarded every three years, and the annual Silver and Bronze medals. They are named after British physician and medical statistician William Guy (1810–1885).

The Guy Medal in Silver is awarded by the Society to any of its fellows for papers of special merit communicated to the Society at its ordinary meetings or published in any of the journals of the Society. It also considers general contributions to statistics.

This year, the Guy Medal in Silver is awarded to Professor Anthony Davison (EPFL Chair of Statistics) “for the path-breaking paper 'Models for exceedances over high thresholds', written jointly with RL Smith and read before the Society in 1989” and “for his influential research and expository work also in other areas of statistical methodology and application, especially bootstrap theory and likelihood asymptotics; and for outstanding service to the statistical research community through editorial work.”
